One Wireless Router, Two Bands

More than ever, a network is critical to efficient computing environments, which highlights the need for high performance networking equipment that can meet the varied needs of today’s users. ZyXEL looks to meet those widespread needs with a unique router that accommodates more than one network data stream at a time.
The ZyXEL NBG5715 (about $250; www.zyxel.com) includes a 2.4GHz band for surfing the Web and performing other Internet tasks, as well as 5GHz band that can be used simultaneously to watch high-definition video. This Wireless N router achieves this dual networking through the use of three dual-band, MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) antennas that deliver transfer rates of up to 450Mbps (megabits per second) over the two networks.

This router also includes SmartRange technology, which pinpoints wireless signals instead of broadcasting full wireless signals everywhere, like traditional routers. This technology helps to extend the range of the router’s transmission to rooms located far beyond the router’s location. Also onboard is advanced QoS (Quality of Service) technology that enhances the stability of multiple HD video streams, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), Web surfing, and other networking functions delivered over fiber broadband services.

  2. Configuring a wireless router can be a tedious task, but it lessens the hassle that a network cabling system provides. I can still remember the time when I first configured a router. It took me 6 hours. It's funny but true. I am planning to switch to Netgear wireless router soon. Anyway, I look forward to reading more information about ZyXEL NBG5715 to see what more it can offer.
